Initially you contact us with your idea. Together we discuss the concept and possible technological feasibility is considered for the application. - What?
With the overall architechture in mind, the requirements are listed. Eg. Interfaces, princip for operation, reliability, environment, temperature, dynamic range, alarm limits, etc. In parallel with the specification of requirements, the procedures for acceptance test are proposed. - How?
With a duable solution in mind, the design is described in text, sketches and figures. This includes functionallity and physical, without "Over Engineering". In parallel with the design describtion procedures for module- and integration test are written. - Prototyping
With the final product clear in mind, the final product is realized in form of a prototype. The implementation includes both construction and documentation thereof, technical drawings for production, etc. - Test
Functional requirements are tested according to the accepttestspecification. Electrical- and mechanical test are executed as needed. Possibly test according to authorities approval, Fx. EMC, vibration, temp-cycling, heat/load, IP, lifting, etc. Reliability and lifetime test can be made in form of HALT-test if needed. Possibly destructive tests are made in the end, or on identical prototype. If the test has given rise to design changes, these are made, and relevant test(s) are repeated iteratively. - Go!
After positive test evaluation, the production can start up. Initially the production suitability are considered - "Design for manufacturing" means the design should be producible without unnecessary trouble / costs. This is evaluated best from the prototype. Possible production test(s) are defined in this phase. - Service and maintenance
What are possible failure scenarios ? Is it possible to change components ? FME(C)A can be prepared as needed.
